The United States further extends Canada and Mexico land-border restrictions

The United States first imposed land-borders restrictions for Canada and Mexico in mid March following the global Coronavirus outbreak. And as these restrictions were supposed to to come to an end today on Wednesday May 20, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on Tuesday confirmed they will further extend the land-border restrictions and prohibit any non-essential cross-border travelling by another month starting today, until June 22.

This is an important decision that will keep people in both of our countries safe, said Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau.

COVID-19 deaths in Mexico is reportedly three times more than the official numbers

According to the Mexicans Against Corruption and Impunity, civil society (Mexico's anti-corruption group) the official numbers of COVID-19 deaths announced by the country's federal government is reportedly three times lower than the real data. The government officially announced only 1332 confirmed deaths in the Mexico City ever since the Coronavirus outbreak started, which is now under question as the registry for death certificates claims 4577 deaths in which doctors have mentioned COVID-19 as a "possible" or "probable" cause of death. The certificates also included the words like "SARS," "COV2," "COV," "COVID 19," or "new Coronavirus," where the technical name for novel Coronavirus is "SARS-CoV-2."

Brazil moves up to third position on worldwide COVID-19 list of most affected countries

With official numbers released on Monday, Brazil recorded third-highest number of COVID-19 infections surpassing United Kingdom, Spain and Italy in just a span of three days. The country now falls behind the United States and Russia with a total of 254220 confirmed cases and reporting 16792 deaths, also making them the sixth-highest in the world on the death toll listing. Hospitals in several places in the country including São Paulo have been operating at 90 percent capacity, and the cities with the highest numbers have started burying people in mass graves.

Hospitals in Brazil reaches 90 percent capacity, São Paulo's mayor fears their health systems could collapse

Bruno Covas, the mayor of Brazil's largest city, São Paulo said their city's public hospitals have reached 90 percent of it's capacity and could likely run out of space in two weeks times, fearing a collapse of their health systems as São Paulo being one of the worst-hit parts in the country, recording almost 3000 deaths so far. In the last 24 hours, Brazil confirmed 7938 cases, bringing total active cases to 241000, making them the fourth country on the list after the United States, Russia and the United Kingdom.
